WASICHAKUY

Pan pipes, charangos, ancient traditional instrumentation

Wasichakuy, the Quechua title of their second album, is pivotal in understanding the significance of the music. It's meaning is an intentional double entendre which means to build your own house and a circle of light surrounding the sun or the moon; a sort of aura. A riveting experience from these five virtuosi - in one instance primeval abstract sounds join elusive ambient harmonies. Then joyful and subtle melodies submerge the listener into an atmosphere of Inca rituals, celebration and meditation.
