Jamelao Homepage

Solidifying his place among Brazil 's Samba greats, Jose Bispo, better known as Jamelão, was an integral part of one of the most important historic albums of all time, recorded by the Severino Araújo Orquestra Tabajara. This record is considered by many today as the Bible of "Samba Canção" singing. The record established Jamelão, as arguably the greatest Brazilian Samba Canção singer ever, and made popular dozens of songs of Brazilian composer Lupiscínio Rodrigues.

Now in his 90's, Jamelão is still very active, performing in occasional national and international shows and concerts, and still appearing every year in Mangueira's "Samba Enrêdo" at the Carnival Parade in Rio de Janeiro .
