Jamelão 'Noventa Anos do Samba - Out Now!

'90 Years of Samba' - also known in Brazil as 'Each Time Even Better' - is acknowledged by many as The Bible of 'Samba Canção', that particular form of samba for listening and dancing to. It established Jose Bispo, better known as Jamelão, as arguably one of the greatest Brazilian Samba Canção singers ever, and certainly the one with the longest most fruitful career. 'Samba Canção' are the sung sambas which map the life of people in the samba schools of Rio de Janeiro.

Now in his 90's, Jamelão is ever active. He appears every year as part of the team playing the 'Samba de Enrêdo', the song that propels legendary samba school Mangueira down the famous Sambadrome at Rio's annual carnival. He also still occasionally guests at national and international shows and concerts.

It was Jamelão who made popular dozens of songs by Brazilian composer Lupiscinio Rodrigues. This historic album commemorates his time with Severino Araújo's Orquestra Tabajara and places him as one of Brazil's Samba Greats.
